Around the world cities are removing cars from their downtown core. This has lead to an flurishing of urban life. A car free city good for people, the environment, and businesses.

It is time that street parking be eliminated from all streets in Te Aro. Limited parking spots for people with mobility permits and for businesses to load / unload deliveries should be the only on street parking allowed.

Most streets in Te Aro should be converted to pedestrian only or living streets. Living streets like the lowest section of cuba street but without parking, allows cars to pass through, but without engangering people.

Kia Ora! This small website is a personal project advocating for a car free Te Aro, Pōneke. There is no formal organization behind it, simply a desire to make Te Aro a more livable city.

Why? I believe that a car free city is good for people, the environment, and businesses. Te Aro is a great place to live, work, and play. It is a vibrant and diverse community. We should be doing everything we can to make it a better place to live.

How? I am not sure. I am not an expert in urban planning. I am just a developer who wants to make a difference. There are many ways to make a car free city. This site is a place to share examples of car free cities and start a conversation. But I do know that we need to start somewhere.
